Today one side is complete and much of the rear lounge area has been completed.

Despite a bit of rain today there was good progress again. Have being playing around with photo stitching so here is a wide view of the rear living area taken from the kitchen sink location.

The Castillo bricks show up really well in pictures so it is easy to take good shots of all the pipes and fittings for later reference!

First wall almost complete

Today we found that great progress had been made and almost the entire side wall completed. Looks like the bricks have even been matched and not just put down at random. Hopefully this rate of work will continue and it will be done quickly.

Second day of bricking and we think it looks great. Spoke to SS today and he thinks that bricks will be done in about three weeks. Even better they won't be painting the gutters and fascias 'till the very end so we have lots of time to decide on colours. Should be easy to photoshop the gutters in various colours after the bricks are up.

Today we got a nice surprise, dropping in for a quick look we found that the brickies have been and started. Even better the mortar choice looks very nice. Hopefully they can get it done well before Christmas to leave time for the post lockup work.




This shows how they have moved all of the bricks into nice piles.


Another use for our garage, looks like they have even got a chair!

Roof covering fixed

Dropped in this morning around 11.30 to find the roof had just been finished. Colour (Shoal Grey) looks much better on than on the ground so happy with that. Not sure about the colour selections of the gutters and fascias now so might see about changing them, only paint so should not be difficult.



Window to laundry has also been replaced with the correct awning style window. Next stage should be the bricks!

Windows and external door frames fixed

Today the windows and door frames went in.


Kitchen window is composed of glass bricks and will be at bench height. Should provide light without loss of privacy.

Plumbing hot and cold fixed

,frToday the plumbing was installed, hot, cold and rainwater and connected to mains so we have a working tap.

We specified a tap for the fridge, interesting that this one tap cost almost twice as much as doubling the entire rainwater piping!

Pump for rainwater will connect to house lines here. Rainwater will be pumped to toilets and laundry, if rainwater tank is empty or power fails the system will cut over to mains water. 

Colorbond roofing delivered

Today the roofing arrived, looks a bit more grey (Shoal Grey) than I had imagined but there it is! Light colour is to reflect as much heat as possible. Zincalume (galv) is the most reflective but many councils including ours will not approve it.

Gutters installed

Yesterday (friday 14th) the gutters and facias went up. Makes a real difference to how complete the house looks.

2nd Progress payment made

No action on the building front today but we did pay the second progress payment recieved yesterday.  

Window Blocks delivered

These arrived on remembrance day. This is the glass block unit that will go in the kitchen behind the stove top. Lucky for us as the acrylic splash back we are using is not suitable for hot areas.

Windows and sliding doors delivered

Today the windows arrived along with the sliding glass doors. So far they all look to be as specified.
