Nothing today

Looks like no further work today.  Variation for extra electrical work did arrive- items that we missed during selections.

Plaster board delivered

Today the plaster board arrived.  Also the electrician had returned to put in a couple of extra power points that we missed at selection plus turn all of the light switches from vertical to horizontal.

We completed the acoustic insulation and are pretty happy with the result so far.  Also put in piping for extractor fans in toilet and laundry.

Wall insulation fixed

Today the insulation to the walls went in.  Good news from builder on our question about acoustic insulation and electrical wiring.  The In short the existing wiring is rated enough to be surrounded in insulation.   Acoustic insulation almost completed.  The insulation makes a huge difference, you can feel it is warmer at night and it is very quiet, with no echo or even noise from outside.

Home theatre speaker wiring completed including speaker cables to outside.  Pictures to come.

Acoustic insulation

Busy day today putting in acoustic insulation in the interior walls.  We used Soundscreen bats.

Here we used nylon cord to hold in the bats, later we got smart and used packing tape- much faster.

Pool after a ton of fill

Today was a busy and productive day. We had to fill around the pool in preparation for concrete beam being installed next week. Due to the narrow block this meant barrowing a ton of fill through the house to the pool and compacting it around the pool edge. Long hard day but over now. Expecting that we will have to barrow in lots more dirt for the pool paving to come.

Between moving dirt we put in the speaker wires for both living rooms, hopefully this won't get in the way of other trade work required.

We also received the plans from the landscaper and are pretty pleased with what he is suggesting.

Finally a visit to display homes we our original sales consultant took time away from the keen crowds to ask how we were going and answer a couple of questions. So we now understand how skirting boards can be tacked on in preparation for floating timber floors.

Electrical rough in

Today the electrical wiring went in. As far as I can see it is exactly to the plan. But now we can look at the house for real there a couple of things we have missed so will have to see how flexible the builder will be over this.

Rear completed

Dropped in today and met the brickie- a nice young guy. Pleased to see that there is great progress and the back is completed, they are up to the front rooms and hope to finish by early next week.

The pool paving people called and hope to concrete the beam this Friday and install coping tiles early next week.

This picture is a good candidate for some photo manipulation to see how the finished yard might look with various landscaping options.

A small problem with damage to the frame meaning they can't work on the front bedroom, nothing to worry about as the frame people will be back to fix in a day or so.

Kitchen wall and rear completed

Today the Kitchen was bricked in as was the remainder of the rear wall. We are beginning to wonder if we should have had bigger doors on the rear of the house as it seems a bit closed in. Still very happy with our mortar and brick choice.
